Leslie Hunter Ford (1915-1964): Elected 1959
Born on 19 January 1915 in Molong, New South Wales. Educated at Amaroo Public and Orange High schools. Ran a fuel agency at Orange from 1936. Enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force in 1941 and served as a mechanical transport fitter. After WWII, developed Skerman's Motors in Dubbo into a successful business and chaired Ganarrin Meat Service Pty Ltd. Learned to fly and became president of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots' Association of Australia in 1962. Served as an alderman on Dubbo Municipal Council from 1947 and as mayor from 1950-64. Elected to the Legislative Assembly for Dubbo in 1959. OBE in 1955. Died on 17 December 1964 in Kurrajong.
